Our Curriculum Intent

At Greenbank, our curriculum is designed to recognise children’s prior learning, provide first-hand learning experiences, allow children to develop language and communication skills, and become reflective thinkers about their learning.

We aim to deliver a relevant, rich, and balanced curriculum through which children can experience wonder and curiosity, and develop their individual interests and experiences. Our curriculum is underpinned by the teaching of basic skills, knowledge, concepts and values, and enhanced through school trips, visitors and cross-curricular themed events, which bring learning to life, encourage a thirst for knowledge and promote independence and social skills.

We strive for our curriculum to be accessible to all pupils to master. This fits in very well with our school vision, that ‘We aim to provide a learning environment where all children can achieve their highest potential and to foster a climate where all children, regardless of class, race, gender or disability feel secure and can grow in confidence and self-esteem’. We do this by setting high expectations for all pupils and removing barriers to allow pupils to achieve those expectations (e.g. through accessible resources, differentiation and reasonable adjustments).

We encourage positive attitudes to learning which reflect the values and skills needed for future success.  We want our children to experience a love of learning, and to leave Greenbank with the confidence and skills to make decisions, self-evaluate, make connections and become lifelong learners.

If you have any questions regarding the curriculum our school is following or would like to find out more, email the school office greenbank-ao@greenbank.liverpool.sch.uk with the Subject line ‘Curriculum’.
